The ride from DPS to the Sayan area took about an hour.  Our driver was super friendly and his English was fantastic.  We had been traveling for the better part of two days so it was great to just sit back and watch the scenery change as we made our way from the coast into the jungle.  Upon arrival, we were greeted by name at the main gate, secondary security checkpoint, and the lobby.  Something that would continue across the entire stay.  We were treated to a traditional Balinese welcome ceremony before check-in which was done in the seating area in the stunning main lobby.

We booked our stay through American Express FHR (using an Amex Platinum Card) which entitled us to two hour long massages (value of $160) and daily breakfast for two (value of $240).  In addition, we were upgraded from our base suite to a villa.  After checking in, we were driven to our villa in a buggy where our bags were already waiting.

All I can say is that the villa was amazing.  I don't think the pictures do it justice.  There was an outdoor seating area with room for an entire family, outdoor dining table, plunge pool, gazebo, and backyard.  Inside, there was a beautiful bed, desk, seating area, and huge bathroom.  Oh and we had an outdoor shower as well.  The best part was that the outdoor area was completely enclosed by trees and foliage.

Our stay was spent wandering around the property, eating, drinking, and spending time in our villa pool.  Beyond the villa, the property is the most unique and beautiful place I've ever seen.  The walk between the porte cachere and the lobby takes you over a bridge which spans a beautiful canyon over a river.  The bridge meets a lotus pond that seems to be "suspended" in midair and provides 360 degree views of the Ayung River Valley.

Morning routine - breakfast and a walk

Not a bad breakfast view

We spent several mornings sitting on the benches on top of the lotus pond watching the sunrise.  Down a flight of stairs and you arrive in the main lobby.  The lobby complex contains the front desk concierge, bar, gym, spa, and the hotel's main restaurant where we ate our daily breakfast and had dinner a couple of nights.  I had read that the hotel charges for internet but upon arrival that wasn't the case and the speeds where good enough for us to FaceTime.

The rest of the property is a sprawling mix of villas, rice patties, and perfectly maintained landscaping.  There is also an infinity pool down by the river with another bar/restaurant.

We both thought the food was excellent at the property.  Breakfast was the typical Asian buffet with both Western and Asian options, coffee, juice, and smoothies.  We were greeted by name each day and didn't have to sign when done with our meal.  We had dinner one night on property where the hotel put together a traditional Indonesian Rijsttafel dinner which was fantastic.

The service was excellent as would be expected at a Four Seasons.  The hotel only has about 60 rooms so the staff to guest ratio is very high.  I really don't have anything but great things to say about the hotel.  Both of us hope to go back at some point!

Everyone says Bali is "magical" and I didn't really believe that until getting to this place.  But it really is true.  I would highly recommend Bali and this property for anyone looking for an exotic place to relax.  It was a great "start" to our anniversary trip and I think it would make a great honeymoon destination as well.  Our three days went by way too fast although we were excited to experience another part of Bali and the St. Regis.
