After clearing transit security, we made our way to The Wing for a quick shower.  While The Wing is totally awesome, I was excited to check out The Pier which had just opened a few days earlier.  The shower felt great and I caught up on email while rehydrating and downing yet another cappuccino.  We still had a few hours to go until our flight to Bangkok so we made our way down to The Pier.

Our boarding passes were scanned and we were shown into the lounge. WOW.  My new favorite lounge at HKG.

Looking through the library

The library

The lounge features a sit down restaurant, shower rooms, a spa, a circular bar, a self-serve buffet, a library, and half a dozen seating areas with amazing tarmac views.

Apparently the design is supposed to be more "residential" than The Pier or any of the other lounges. I didn't totally get that until visiting.  The lounge is just gorgeous.  Possibly my favorite lounge in the world...although tough competition with the Lufthansa First Class Terminal.  Decked out in subtle gold with green onyx, (how cool is that?) the common areas of the lounge look more Manhattan apartment than Hong Kong airport lounge.

Buffet "room" was just gorgeous

I loved (and know that Emily would love even more) the smoked salmon and tomato mozzarella in swing top jars.

The power outlets and USB ports in the side tables were amazing and completely functional.

The entire vibe of the place was comfortable, warm, welcoming.  We didn't really interact with the staff as we were tired and they were clearly still figuring the operation out.  I imagine once they figure it out, this will be among the top 10 lounges in the world.

We were sad to leave The Pier but were pumped to be making our way to a bus gate to meet the A330 that would be flying us to Bangkok!
