We had booked a car through Al Maha and while the driver arrived a few minutes late, everything else was smooth.  Our ride took around an hour given traffic in Dubai.  The Park Hyatt is located in a great location - only about 10 minutes form the airport and situated on Dubai Creek with great views of the small marina and of the Dubai skyline.  Getting into Dubai from the hotel is easy - we made a couple of trips and the longest ride was about 20 minutes.

I had booked a cash rate and used 6,000 HGP per night to upgrade to a suite.  I emailed the hotel prior to see if we could be placed in a terrace suite but didn't have any expectations that they would honor that request.  Upon check-in, we were informed that they'd upgraded us to the terrace suite included complimentary breakfast and minibar - score!  No idea why they upgraded us - surely not due to my lowly Hyatt Platinum (prior to program changes) status or my world renown blog.  I think we just got lucky.

Our room wasn't ready yet so we had a complimentary cappuccino and caught up on email for 30 minutes and checked out the views of the Dubai Creek and skyline.

Keys were delivered and we made our way to the room (3201).  On the way, we snapped pictures of the hotel which is just gorgeous.

Set in a blue and white Moroccan theme, the interior is very much Park Hyatt while the exterior seems local and authentic.

There are gardens throughout the hotel.

The pool blew me away - similar in some ways to the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi.

We made it to the room and we were not disappointed.

The suite featured a living area with a balcony and a couple of chairs.  A fruit plate was on the coffee table and the coffee/water setup was outstanding - half a dozen bottles of sparkling and still Acqua Panna.

The complimentary mini bar which was well stocked - we took full advantage of this perk.

A giant bathroom with bathtub and walking shower.

And a super comfortable king size bed.

But the real highlight was the terrace overlooking the marina, Dubai Creek, and the Dubai skyline.

Other than strolling around the grounds, visiting the pool, and breakfast a couple mornings, we didn't do much at the hotel.  We had planned to eat dinner at the hotel's Thai restaurant (The Thai Kitchen) but we were both tired so ordered room service and relaxed on the terrace instead.

The walking path in front of the hotel is a peaceful way to get in a walk in the morning.  We were able to get some great pictures of the hotel and the marina.

We spent our last morning in Dubai walking from the hotel to old Dubai to see the boats stocked with all sorts of goods headed to other places in the region.  This is a really cool site to see and one of the only "throwbacks" you'll get in Dubai.

We packed up and headed to the lobby to check out.  We had pre booked a car to Abu Dhabi with the hotel but there was some confusion about the reservation and pricing.  It took a bit to sort it out but the hotel found us a car and we were soon on our way to the Hyatt Capital Gate, the Grand Mosque, and Formula 1!

Final Thoughts:
I'm sure we'll be back in Dubai in the next couple of years and we'll definitely be returning to the Park Hyatt.  The hotel is tucked away from the traffic, construction, and noise of Dubai while still being close to both downtown and the airport.  While the service was fine, that's typical of Dubai hospitality and was certainly sufficient for our short stay.  The upgrade to the terrace suite was an added perk and one that I don't expect to receive again in the future.  I would definitely recommend making this your base for a visit to Dubai whether that is a short overnight or a longer stay.
