Quick Thoughts on Hong Kong

We arrived in Taipei yesterday afternoon after three awesome days in Hong Kong.  I'll have a full trip report on the flights/hotels over next few weeks but wanted to provide a few thoughts now.

First off, Hong Kong is still my favorite city in the world.  I love Istanbul, Singapore, London but nothing quite matches the vibe of Hong Kong.  The contrast of new and old, east and west, water and mountains...and the endless skyscrapers make the place so unique it's hard to describe.

We spent our days riding the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour for <$1 USD roundtrip.

We made the trip out to Lantau Island to ride the Ngong Ping cable car and see the Big Buddha.  The weather was terrible but that made for kind of a cool adventure riding the cable car into the fog where there was literally no visibility for 10 minutes.

There's a Big Buddha somewhere up there

We spent a perfect day (sunny and high 60's) in Stanley playing with our brand new selfie stick and had a great lunch on the water.

And of course we did some shopping while make our way through the maze of malls.  If you are planning a trip to Asia, you should definitely include Hong Kong in your itinerary.  There is so much to see and do.  It's hard not to fall in love with the place.
